Introduction
With Crafting, you will find yourself able to produce a variety of objects, many of which are sought after and will fetch a good price if you decide to part with them.Crafting is a very flexible skill, and can help you train most other skills - be it an amulet that can be enchanted to watch your crops or increase your gem mining, or armour to help you range. With patience, as your Crafting experience increases, you will find that the items you can craft will be more advanced, and have more uses, such as helping you venture into the dark places of RuneScape
Pottery
Some of the basic things you can craft in RuneScape are pottery. These items are very simple to make. First, you need to get some Clay by purchasing it from another player or mining it yourself. Second, fill a container such as a Jug with water and use it on this Clay to make Soft Clay. Next, take this Soft Clay with you to a Pottery Wheel. There is one inside a building in Barbarian Village (Gunnarsgrunn) that is marked with an icon that looks like an empty bowl on the World Map. Once there, use the Soft Clay on the Pottery Wheel and choose the item you wish to craft it into (at level 1 this will be a Pot). Finally, use this Unfired Pot on the Pottery Oven in the same building to heat it up and you'll get back either a broken one or a complete one. Do not be discouraged if it breaks, this will only happen at low levels.

Spinning
Spinning things on a Spinning Wheel is part of any Crafter's life. You'll need to make strings to make your jewelry wearable, or to make a Bow String to make that bow useable. There are a number of Spinning Wheels around RuneScape that may be used, but the most popular one for free users would have to be the one on the second floor of Lumbridge Castle. It is located in the southern room on the second floor. Just take any of the items in the following Spinning XP Table to the Spinning Wheel and use it on the wheel to craft it into a helpful item.

Tanning
There is one more form of Crafting that players will run into early on in RuneScape, and that is tanning. With tanning you're taking a hide (there is a bit of a variety) to a tanner and paying him to tan it for you so that it'll turn into a leather that you may stitch into armor. There is a tanner that's easily accesible to free users in Al Kharid. Tanners do of course not do their work for fee and will charge you a small price for each piece of hide you want tanned.
Leather Armor
You can make various armor for your character through Crafting. Leather armor is typically worn to support people using Ranged in battle. The following table shows you all of the armor that you may craft, the materials required, and the level you need to do so.

Skill Cape
Once you reach Level 99 Crafting, you may go and purchase a special skill cape and hood from the Master Crafter who is in the Crafting Guild (southwest of Falador). The cape and hood cost 99k to buy. When you put the Crafting Cape on, you'll temporarily gain a boost in Crafting that will put it at Level 100/99 instead of 99/99. Awesome!
There are two forms of the Crafting Cape, one that is non-trimmed (You only have one level 99 skill), and one that is trimmed (You have more than one level 99 skill). A trimmed cape will have a +4 Prayer bonus, when worn, under your equipment stats.
