Introduction
Cooking is useful, because eating food restores lost life points. As someone new to the skill, you may find that you may often burn food that you try to cook. The more your level increases, the less food you will burn. As your Cooking skill increases, you will also have access to a wider range of foods that you are able to cook. You can cook food on an open fire or on a range.
Fire and Ranges
Fire can be made pretty easily by using a Tinderbox with just about any kind of wood logs.
The only foods that can be used on a fire are things such as fish and meats (basically anything that doesn't include several ingredients). For foods that have several ingredients, ranges are the source for cooking the foods.
There are many ranges/ovens across RuneScape and can be located by following this icon.
In order to cook foods, just use an uncooked food on either a range or fire. You will also find that cooking on ranges (especially the one in Lumbridge Castle) will reduce the amount of times you burn food. Also while cooking you may be given the option of cooking several amounts of a particular object. Among those options is the option of 'Cook X.' Upon clicking that you will be given the ability to enter a certain amount of that particular item you want to make.
